Hi!

When will Asus release the drivers for Windows 7 64-bit... Currently under download section, there are only drivers for XP, vista 32bit... Now even for Vista 64 bit... Is there any other place, I could get drivers for windows 7 64bit?

tnx!

Have done a successful clean installation of Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit on my ASUS notebook computer.  It works perfectly.

Windows 7 contains the necessary drivers in itself.  You don’t need to install the drivers.  After the installation is completed, go to Windows Update to get the latest drivers.

As for the Windows 7 Utilities, such as the ATK_Hotkey, Splendid, Power 4 Gear and so on…, you can download them from the following support site.

http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&model=U80V

Everything works properly.  There is no problem at all.  I think that you can also install Windows 7 on your M51Sn notebook computer successfully.

Enjoy!!

Just replaced Vista x86 with Win 7 64 on my M51Sn. Works well so far.

I tried the upgrade path first to Win7 x86 and had no end of troubles. Various devices just wouldn't work. I ended up blowing the whole thing away and doing a clean install from the DVD. This allowed me to move to the 64-bit version.

Most of the drivers are in the Win7 install, but not all. Got most of the missing drivers from the ASUS site. The rest came from Intel, nvidia, etc, as these ones are more up-to-date. Took a while as it seems the ASUS site is a bit overwhelmed at the moment. Lots of "Server too busy" messages.

I found the drivers by following the instructions in this post:

http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?id=20090326010615690&board_id=3&model=M51Sn&page=1&SLanguage=en-us

which shows you how to find the generic driver downloads, rather than the ones linked to a specific model. Note that there are no Win7 drivers tagged to the M51Sn at this time.

Edit: oops, I forgot to mention that you can find the apps/utilities by selecting "Apps" rather than "Drivers" when using the above method.

what about the IR remote? I got it installed and drivers done perfectly fine but i couldn't get it to actually "do" something when i hit buttons except have the IR module's red light flash on.

The remote was giving signals but it wouldnt open up media centre or anything, did you have that issue?

I'd also like to add, i punched Win 7 in and only had 3 missing drivers.

SD Card Reader
Finger Print Scanner
STK7700D (TV Tuner)

I pulled the SD card reader driver off the recovery card, vista64 worked like a charm, same iwth the finger print scanner.

HOWEVER, the software for the finger print scanner didn't work and i can't find any drivers for the TV Tuner. I know they are on the recovery disc, i've used em before but the Vista 64 drivers for it do not appear to work on win 7.

Where do i download the TV Tuner drivers that you used to get yours working?

EDIT: NVM, got the TV Tuner working, now all that's not is the fingerprint scanner.

I've got two problems... One is the fingerprint scanner software and the other is my computer refusing to burn dvds (cds work fine). Wondering if anyone else has had trouble burning dvds?

Apparently this works on the m51sn series:

http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&model=K50IN

The drivers and software are compatible. I am testing it now and it seems AOK.

Only problem left now is my IR remote.

What utilities are meant to be installed to get this to work? I have the drivers installed but no matter what i look at, i can't seem to find the drivers needed. Are they ATK ones or what? I think i have all the ATK stuff installed but i may have missed one or two.

Hi Count,

Thanks for that info. I was just wondering what file from the K50IN link you provided was used for the fingerprint scanner?

Thanks again,

Josh.

Josh, those drivers did not work for me in the end, i couldnt find the fingerprint scanner there anywhere, i turned to other sources.

I got the drivers for the fingerprint scanner from my recovery disk, the folder ASPM i ran the 2kvista64 setup file and drivers installed, but this provided an incompatible installation to run the scanner. So once hte driver was installed i went to device manager and found it was an:

AuthenTec AES1610 or something similar, looked it up and found Win7 drivers and utilities at the authenTec homepage.

hope that helps.

On a side note for all, my IR remote still doesnt work. I don't know why. Do you need to configure anything in windows control panel to get WMC to recognize the remote? I dont think there's a utility for it from what i can tell, it's a windows configuration thing.

K josh, got it sorted. here's how you do it:

Get your M51SN driver disc, put it in, go and install the drivers and application from the ASPM folder (x64 drivers). That'll install your fingerprint scanner and an incompatible application.

When you're finished, go to programs and features and uninstall ASus Security protect manager

Then go to the asus link i gave you originall and download "Asus Data Security Utility" or whatever it's called, that has the updated windows 7 x64 fingerprint scanner utility, since your drivers are already set, it'll pick up and configure your scanner for you.

OH!, and in regards to the remote, ASUS tell me you need to install the ITE_Remote utility. Which is not on the driver and utility disc for some reason.  It's a 32 bit program but it works on 7 64 anyway.
